Training

Recovery, Rest and Training Balance

Use sleep, rest, easy movement and sensible scheduling to support consistent participation.

General educational information. Rules, coaching practices and safety requirements vary by sport, age, venue and governing body.

Recovery is part of training

Adaptation happens between demanding sessions. Rest is not laziness or a reward that must be earned.

Sleep routines matter

Regular sleep and wake times, a calm pre-bed routine and reduced late-night stimulation can help. Individual needs vary.

Alternate demands

Avoid stacking the same hard movement or body area every day. Coaches should consider matches, travel and school workload.

Use easy recovery methods

Walking, gentle mobility, normal meals, hydration and downtime are often enough. Expensive gadgets are optional.

Respond to warning signs

Persistent pain, major fatigue, illness symptoms or declining function require rest and appropriate professional assessment.
